UKRANIAN EMBROIDERY

Ukrainian embroidery (vyshyvka) is rooted in the very core of Ukranian culture. It is traditionally present at all Ukrainian holidays and significant life events. It often contains symbols and has a ritualistic function — different regions in Ukraine feature different designs and patterns. Embroidered clothing and ceremonial cloths (rushnyks) are often passed down within a family, from generation to generation.

FUNDRAISER INFORMATION

All the embroidery (vyshyvka) displayed here was donated by Ukrainian-American families from their private collections.

Every embroidery was hand-selected and hand-framed in a way to honor its craft, and enhance its presentation; all the while aiming to look dandy on anyone’s wall.

They are all for sale, with ALL PROCEEDS going directly to the Ukrainian government via UNITED24 (u24.gov.ua) UNITED24 is an initiative of the president of Ukraine and is registered in the USA as a 501c3 organization by the Embassy of Ukraine.

SMALL: $75
MEDIUM: $150
LARGE: $300

SIGNATURE PIECES: Most of the embroidery is taken from finished pieces intended to be used and displayed in the home, pillowcases, table linens & runners, clothing etc. In rare cases, however, we've been lucky to receive donations of singular work - tests, samplers, off-cuts and piece work - that shows the hand of the embroiderer. These unique pieces are priced accordingly.
